Wood fibre insulation in Bedminster.

This mid-terrace in Bedminster had no insulation to the front or rear. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, the residents of the property, came to us after viewing some houses we had worked on close to theirs.

“Urbane Eco had installed EWI on a number of Victorian Houses in our area, so we could see the quality of their work and we were able to ask local residents about the post installation results.”

Here are some photographs of the house before:

After Nick had carried out his survey on the property, our client decided to go ahead with the Wood Fibre.

“Nick is very knowledgable about the different systems available and he provided details of the 3 systems that were suitable for our property. We opted for the Wood Fibre product as this had been consistently recommended by the other home owners we spoke to.”

We installed 100mm of Wood Fibre with render system and top coat to the front and rear. We also rendered the garden wall in the same colour to give it a coordinated, neat finish.

Mr & Mrs. Thomas chose to have different colour’s on the front and rear of the house, they found the final result much more aesthetically pleasing than it was before.

“One of the benefits was the total transformation in the exterior look of our home  – the final render used comes in a variety of colours, and the resale value of our home has now increased because it is better insulated.”

Mr. & Mrs. Thomas were left seeing an improvement to the feel of their home almost immediately, saying;

“The results were very noticeable even before the work was completed, the house felt warmer as soon as the insulation was fixed in place – we have since noticed the heating does not need to work so hard to maintain a consistent inside temperature.”

Wood fibre is very dense and has good thermal mass, meaning it will hold heat better. It is also an environmentally friendly product in the way that it is manufactured and the way that it reduces energy costs in the home. Anyone would also agree that the final finish of the work looks great and is a definite improvement. A win – win situation all round!
