Stephen Williams MP visit to Urbane Eco
Stephen Williams MP visited Urbane Eco at our showroom on Zetland Road on Thursday 19th February. Stephen was interested in visiting Urbane Eco and talking to the team, as Urbane Eco were finalists in the Evening Post Contribution to the Community category for their work in making energy efficiency more accessible to the public via their free Holistic Building Forums events. Urbane Eco have been upgrading houses in Bristol for the last 8 years with their highly regarded wood fibre solid wall insulation, contributing greatly to the lower carbon targets, and recently upgraded the show home for the Bristol City Councils Warm Up Bristol campaign.
Urbane Eco are Green Deal Home Improvement Fund accredited installers which means they can access thousands of pounds for customers via Government grants to upgrade their homes. Urbane have recently taken on more staff with help from the West of England LEP Going for Growth fund, which has meant they have been able to do more installations and keep all the necessary PAS2030 (needed for Green Deal accreditation) procedures in place.
Attending on Thursday were Nick Lloyd, Managing Director, who did a short presentation on Urbane Eco. Also Andy Richards, Energy Efficiency Co-ordinator and Phoebe Westwood, Energy Efficiency Administrator, both the posts supported by the training grant from WEOELEP Going for Growth Fund.
Also attending were Wayne Sharp, working foreman, plus other operatives. Plus accountant Michael Page and website designer and writer Tony Watts CBE who is chair of the South West Forum on Ageing and is interested in affordable energy. Local householder Tony Holmes who has had his home insulated by Urbane Eco, was there.
Nick Lloyd, Managing Director, said: “It was a useful opportunity to meet an MP who has a good understanding of the issues involved with retrofitting properties and for us, it felt like a real validation of what we are doing.”
